The weekend started out with an endurance ride to Dougs cabin in Utica PA. We left my house and five hours later pulled into Dougs with 90 miles and 3500' of climbing under us.. The route that we took (Rt.86-322-358) doesn't feel as rolling in the car as it does on the bikes, which can be said for alot of roads that most of us ride, but there are some long climbs on 322 and with about 25 miles to go the steep hills near the cabin start kicking in. We relaxed that afternoon and did a few things that needed to be done for Angela and Doug's engagement party / crableg fest the next day and went to bed fairly early since we were going to get up early on Saturday and get in a brick workout on the Allegheny River trail.
Saturday we did a 25 mile tempo bike workout and our legs were feeling pretty decent. We maintained about a 22 mph. avg. and then got off and ran a quick 5k. The heat and humidity started to kick in on the run and I'm glad we started our workout early. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, cooking, eating and having a great time at the cabin with family and some great friends.
Congratulations Angela and Doug on your engagement, I couldn't be happier for you both!
